MAGILL, Patricia Thelma Richards (Pat to her friends), a resident of Prattville since 1960, died May 20, 2014, of COPD. She was 92. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 17, 1922, Pat was reared there by her aunt, Hannah Rasmussen, and in Berlin, NH, by her parents, James Bernard Richards and Aaget (Olga) Freda Rasmussen Richards. In 1940, Pat graduated from Berlin High School and entered The Lutheran Norwegian Deaconess' School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY, graduating in 1943. Pat was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1944, and stationed at Mason General Hospital, Long Island, where she met and married Milton Harold Magill, also an Army lieutenant, on June 17, 1945. Following World War II, Pat and Mac settled in Mac's hometown, St. Louis, MO. Mac worked for the post office and Pat nursed at Christian Hospital. The Korean War saw Mac reactivated, serving in the U.S. Air Force. After 20 years of service, Mac retired with Pat to permanent residence in Prattville. During their 54 years of marriage, they reared four children. Pat was a stay-at-home mom and a career woman. She was active in school activities, leading her sons' Cub Scout troops and daughters' Brownie and Girl Scout troops. Pat loved playing bridge at the Senior Center on Tuesdays, at the country club and at Jim's Restaurant with the Dutch Club. She also loved playing solitaire on her home computer and doing the daily crossword puzzle. For many years, Pat enjoyed playing her home organ. She loved to travel and read. Pat was thrilled to be on Prattville's third Honor Flight to the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, in 2008. She was an avid knitter. Nothing was more important to Pat than her family, her Lutheran church, and her nursing career. She was a founding member of Christ Lutheran Church in 1987. Rarely did she miss a Sunday service, a yard sale, a bake sale or any other church activities. In 1965, Pat returned to nursing. She retired as assistant director of nursing, Prattville General Hospital in 1984. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association. Pat was also very active in TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, maintaining her ideal weight for many, many years. She was an inspiration to others. She is survived by her son Richard Milton Magill, New Orleans, LA; daughter Linda Lee Magill Herring and her husband Charles Webster Herring, and granddaughter Amanda Katherine Herring, Panama City Beach, FL; daughter Sherry Patricia Magill and her husband Robert John Willis, Jacksonville, FL; son James Robert Magill, Sr. and his wife Tammy Lynn Magill, Omaha, NE, and grandson James Robert Magill Jr., Wichita, KS, and granddaughter Katherine Elizabeth Magill Fullmer, and great granddaughters Adelynn Paige Fullmer and Paisley Makae Fullmer, Salt Lake City, UT; three nieces, two nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews; best friend Annette Williams, Prattville AL. A visitation was held Friday, May 23, at Prattville Memorial Chapel and Memory Gardens between two and five o'clock, and the funeral was at Christ Lutheran Church, 2175 Cobbs Ford Road, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at two o'clock. Pastors Dan Pharr, Prattville, and Rick Mason, South Carolina, presided. Prattville Memorial Chapel and Memory Gardens officiating. McGlamry, Mrs. Virginia Rose, age 75, a resident of Deatsville, AL passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Folmar and Bro. Pat Osment officiating. The interment followed at Deatsville Chapel Cemetery. She was a member of Deatsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents John Collins Washburn and Lottie Bell Oakes Washburn, and granddaughter Heather Folmar. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Doug McGlamry of Deatsville, AL, daughters Jenni Lynn Bass (Danton) of Montgomery, AL, Jan Folmar (Dr. Steve) of Houma, LA, son Tom McGlamry (Laura), brothers Johnny Washburn (Patti) of Montgomery, AL, Jerry Washburn (Theresa) of Prattville, AL, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hunter Bass, Taylor Folmar, Zachary Folmar, Sam McGlamry, Britton McGlamry, Chris Ballmann, Larry Estes, Austin Dean and J.T. Strickland. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, AL directing.


PATTERSON, Ruby Louise, 90, of Prattville died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Prattville Baptist Hospital, Prattville. She was born on Friday, October 5, 1923, in Chilton Co., AL, daughter of the late Willie Walker and the late Eva Downs Walker. She was a seamstress. Surviving her are her daughter, Glenda Knox Fergueson of Maplesville, AL; granddaughters, Cynthia (John) Segrest of Prattville, AL, Leigh (Michael) McKee of Clanton, AL; great-fgandchildren, Hunter Segrest, Larissa McKee, Caleb McKee; and brother, George Melvin Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Patterson; brothers, Calvin Walker, William Walker and Leon Walker. Friends were received from 6-8, Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Martin Funeral Home. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at graveside with the Rev. David Bishop officiating. Interment followed in Prattville Memory Gardens, Prattville, AL. No flowers. POWERY, Mr. William Calvert "Bill" age 43, a resident of Millbrook, AL, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014.
